Crew Employment

Dayboard Yacht Solutions provides both US and offshore crew employment. The best solution for your yacht depends on a number of factors including the owning entity jurisdiction, flag, crew nationalities, and yacht location.

Ultimately, crew is employed via an independent cell that becomes the provider of crew for the yacht. This arrangement lowers the owner's liability while simultaneously protecting crew and allowing for better benefits.

Crew Payroll

Both offshore and US payroll is available. We look closely at each yacht’s unique situation to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

U.S. Payroll:

Yachts that operate within the US are subject to the same payroll regulations as any other land-based employment. Crew members must be classified as either W2 or 1099 employees, with 1099 employees needing to pass the IRS independent contractor test. We ensure compliance with the US requirements by providing payroll services that adhere to these standards. This not only meets legal obligations but also streamlines the employment process for yacht owners.

Offshore Payroll:

Yachts with crew members on B1/B2 visas or that do not spend more than 183 days within the US jurisdiction, offshore payroll may be the only legally available option. To achieve this, we facilitate offshore payroll services through Guernsey. This approach ensures that crew members are paid in compliance with relevant international regulations, allowing for smooth and legally sound transactions regardless of the yacht's location or the crew's visa status.

We believe that the crew is the cornerstone of every successful yacht operation, foundational to maintaining efficiency, safety, and the highest standards of service.
